Well Christmas is over and I had a great time with my family this year. I don’t get out much, so it was good to see everybody. On Friday I went over to my brothers house. He ended up making me a wooden staff, that looks like bone, with a dragon’s head and skeletal neck coming out of the top. He also made an old man of the mountain staff for Dad. It was capped with stone, and had a face that reminded me of something I’ve seen from Lord of the Rings. I also got the Book of Eli from him.
That night my Mom gave me Steve Jobs’s biography by Walter Isaacson. I quit reading books in October because I wanted to read this one, and even waited to send out my Christmas list because I was tempted to buy it. That night I read the introduction, and I’m already up to page 56. What an amazing read.
I also got a few other books, like Program or be Programmed. It’s pretty insightful, and is Douglas Rushoff’s 10 commandments for our new digital age. And Smartbomb is another book I got. It focuses on the birth of the modern video game, covering the history up to 2005. A light read, but more stories of what went on behind the scenes. Then there’s the Making of Empire Strikes Back, which is such a beautiful book. But every one of J.W. Rinzler’s Star War’s books are spectacular. Even the Indiana Jones one is amazing.
I got a few cool moves too, like Back to the Future (all of them), and the Pirates 4 movie, On Stranger Tides. I even picked up the new Conan movie with my Grandma’s gift card. Plus there’s Battlestar Galactica Season 3, which I started watching tonight. So there’s plenty of T.V. around.
Now things are starting to quiet down, and winter is creeping in, but at least I have some books and a few movies to get me through it. I’m loving Steve Jobs’s.
